The digital viewer is a battery-powered electronic device that, once fitted, gives you a very clear view of the people who come to your door.

The digital peephole is very similar to a traditional viewer.

Indeed, ruling no. 34151/2017 of the Italian Court of Cassation stated that “The stairs of a block of flats and the landings of communal staircases do not serve the function of allowing private life to be carried on away from prying eyes, because they are, in fact, intended for use by an indeterminate number of people, and therefore the criminal protection under art. 615 bis of the Italian Criminal Code does not extend to any images captured there”.

The landing of your home is not to be regarded as a “high-risk zone” under art. 615-bis of the Italian Criminal Code (the offence of unlawful interference with private life), and so fitting an electronic viewer is permitted.
